(BIRDS.) Rex Brasher. Pileated Woodpecker [and] Glaucous Gull. Together, two fine original watercolor compositions by the noted early-twentieth-century American ornithologist. The Woodpecker sheet measures 15x18½ inches overall and is monogrammed and dated 11.6.12 at lower center; the Gull, 15x21 inches overall, monogrammed and dated 2.2.10 at lower right; on acidic board but colors still strong, dampstain. Connecticut?, 1910 and 1912

Additional Details

The name and numbers written in pencil on the verso of each sheet correspond to each species' plate in Brasher's "Birds and Trees of North America", though the bird configurations are quite different and these originals were painted some 20 years prior to that publication.
